Project 1 — Chemin Agréable

Journal
Another little street in France, photo taken by Aaron & Kat Fraley. Excited about this one!
The Sketch and Imprimatura

Journal
This was the early start. And I am still having to do some adjustments on angles, positions, etc. Imprimatura was Burnt Sienna? Possibly? I forget.
The Ugly Stage — Blocking-in

Journal
A lot of perspective problems still remaining. Positions of some items moved twice already.

Project 2 — North Piney Creek
The Reference

Journal
This is a very special place to me: North Piney Creek. My Aunt Mary owned a cabin right on that stream, and during my summer visits for several years as a boy . . . (ages 6 to 12, I think?? wow, that was a long time ago) . . . I could hardly sleep at night because I was so eager to get my fishing pole out and cast into that stream. I must have caught 40 trout there over the years. Now you may be saying… “That photo looks WAY too good to be taken in 1975.” Well, you would be right. The original was faded and slightly damaged, and did not look very good. Behold the magic of AI. And when I compare the two photos . . . there is very little discernible difference, so I won’t even bother showing the other one here. One other tidbit… the camera-woman (I think my Grandma Adelyn took the picture?) was standing on the bridge over that stream at the time of the shot. So grateful she took this pic!

How do you like the look of my studio?]
The Ugly Stage — Blocking-in

Journal
[ Forgot the pics of this stage too, unfortunately. How do you like the look of THE OTHER SIDE of my studio? See Leonardo, the Renaissance Man on the wall. He is my mascot. Villefranche-sur-Mer is also on the antique easel (sideways) . . . which easel was owned, by my grandfather Fred D. Fraley who was ALSO an artist, and a general contractor, an architect (draftsman), and incredibly skilled in the construction business. I have always wondered if he built that easel]
The Painting Emerges

Journal
Now we are getting somewhere. Been learning about painting water in Tisch Academy. This has a ways to go, but I am generally happy with where it is headed. And, yes, I have taken some artistic license with the stream curve, rocks on the right, etc.
